Daufuskie Island is a sea island just off the southern coast of Hilton Head Island.  This Island is only 9.61 square miles and is home to 250 full-time residents. There are two private resorts and residential communities, the rest remain undeveloped or small residential tracks. The northeast portion is home to Haig Point Club, a private member owned residential club. To the South of Haig Point is Daufuskie Resort, a small oceanfront community and the southern tip is Bloody Point, a semi-private residential golf club community. Most of the western area of the island is unincorporated land home to full time residents as well as second home owners.

Opportunities for homesite purchase on Daufuskie Island are plentiful.  Buildable lots can be purchased in the Melrose community, Haig Point,  Bloody Point, and unincorporated areas. Prices vary drastically, mostly depending on the view. It is possible to purchase a homesite for merely $1 due to the higher membership fees in some of the private communities.  Homesite prices range from $1 to over $1,200,000.
