Daufuskie Island Recreation

Athletics: Golf and Tennis

Three courses throughout Daufuskie—designed by big names in professional golf—offer 63 holes of quality green. Haig Point’s 29-hole Osprey course, by Rees Jones, is managed by Troon Golf and and offers various instructional clinics. Bloody Point’s 18-hole golf course, designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish together, challenges even experienced golfers with its par-72 holes. The last facility, the 1991 Melrose—a signature 18-hole design by Jack Nicklaus—follows the Atlantic Ocean along Daufuskie’s eastern shore for beautiful scenery and tough golf. Six Har-Tru tennis courts, two lighted, make up Haig Point’s racquet club. Daufuskie Club and Resort, also referred to as Melrose Plantation, has 4 Har-Tru courts designed by Stan Smith.

Webb Tract

Webb Tract has recently become available for development, and is the only commercial property on the northwestern side of Daufuskie. These 753 acres were purchased by Plantation Land Properties in 1999 with plans to erect a 2-part lock-harbour marina that will hold approximately 140 boat slips.
