Spring is here in the Lowcountry which brings beautiful blooms and green lawns. As the Hilton Head real estate market continues to improve, we expect to see an increase in home sales in 2015. If you’ve been considering selling your Hilton Head or Bluffton home, lower interest rates and tight inventory levels should create an inviting environment for buyers.
When the time comes to sell your home, there are a few things to consider before announcing it to the public and there are several things that you can do without breaking the bank. Three things stand out when marketing your home for sale: clean, de-clutter and color. Here are a few more ideas to help you get ready for the big rush of home buyers this spring on Hilton Head Island.
- Spring Clean! It’s time for a deep clean. Make sure your windows sparkle and your carpets and floors are clean. It may even be time for a fresh coat of paint. Don’t forget the exterior of your home. Power washing and sprucing up landscaping are a must before you list your home for sale on Hilton Head or in Bluffton. In our area, outdoor living spaces are extremely important and something we enjoy all year long. With that said, make sure those areas including the backyard are spruced up.
- Clear out the clutter. Some sellers start packing boxes and rent a storage unit to de-clutter their home. This is a great way to lighten up a house and make it appealing to any buyer. Don’t forget closets and cabinets. Buyers want to make sure there is ample space for their belongings so they will usually take a peek in these areas.
- Hire a Handyman. If you’re not handy with typical repairs around the home, it may be a good idea to have a home inspector come through and make his recommendations. From there you or a professional can address issues that may arise leading to a nice clean buyer’s inspection. This will also let potential buyers know that you’ve taken care of and maintained your home properly. This is a big plus with buyers!
- Price, Price, Price. It’s important to make sure you home is priced competitively. As buyers are looking for the best value, make sure your Realtor has shown and discussed the comps in your neighborhood. This will help with the pricing of your home. If you start high, you are likely to eliminate potential buyers from even viewing your house and eventually you’ll do a price reduction. Why not start out right? Price your home to get it SOLD.
